STRUCTURE OF COURSE

This award is a two year A Level qualification. 

Component 1: Introductory Topics in Psychology

Component 2: Psychology in Context

Component 3: Issues and Options in Psychology

ASSESSMENT

Components 1, 2 and 3 will be assessed through written examinations. There will be three 2 hour papers for the A level examination.

CONTENT

Component 1 

Includes: Social Influence; Memory; Attachment; Research Methods 

Component 2 

Includes: Approaches in Psychology; Biopsychology; Psychopathology (including depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, phobias and anxiety disorders) 

Component 3 

Includes: Issues and Debates in Psychology; Relationships or Gender; Schizophrenia or Eating Behaviour; Addiction or Forensic Psychology; Advanced Research Methods 

POSSIBLE CAREER PROGRESSION

Chartered Psychologist – including Clinical, Counselling, Educational, Forensic, Health, or Occupational Psychology, Medical Doctor (especially GP or Psychiatrist), Lawyer, Police Officer, Psychotherapist, Social Worker, Teacher or Lecturer 

COMPLIMENTARY SUBJECTS

Psychology can be combined with Arts, Humanities or Science subjects as well as Sport.
