SEN
St Aloysius’ College values the abilities and achievements of all pupils, and is committed to providing each pupil the best possible environment for learning. We embrace all aspects of students' well-being and work in close partnership with parents/carers to achieve and deliver the best outcomes.
We are a fully inclusive boys’ Catholic school which ensures that all students achieve their potential; personally, socially, emotionally and academically in all areas of the curriculum (regardless of their gender, ethnicity, social background, sexual identity, physical ability or educational needs).
We have a well-resourced Special Educational Needs Department with a team of well-qualified specialist teachers. These teachers can give help and support either in class or individually. If necessary, your son will also receive special English language teaching, we also provide a one to one tuition programme in both numeracy and literacy for those students in most need.
All students with SEN requirements at St Aloysius will be identified and assessed as early as possible and then the appropriate intervention and support will be given. Students are further assessed at the end of Year 9 see if they meet the strict criteria for access arrangements. Applications are then made to the Examining Boards and students are informed by letter if their applications are successful.
Our SEN Department aims to ensure that pupils requiring support in order to achieve their full potential are given equality of opportunity to access a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, including the National Curriculum. The SEN Department are incredible dedicated and provide breakfast and lunch clubs for students to access extra support and socialise.
