Prefects Announced for 2019-2020!
Congratulations to the successful Prefect candidates who were announced during the Year 10 Prize Giving event where they were presented with their limited edition, 140 years, prefect tie!
At the start of the summer term year 10 began the process of applying to become Prefects for St Aloysius' College. This prestigious role has been a key feature for the school for the past 140 years and the process was both rigorous and challenging. The first stage was for the boys to consider whether they had the attributes suitable to be a prefect; maturity, honesty, leadership, ability to serve and an understanding of the importance of collective responsibility and community. Over 70 students applied for the post, completing an application form and personal statement that detailed why they should be given the significant role. Those applicants who met the brief and had achieved excellent attendance and punctuality, were shortlisted and underwent an interview with their Head of Year, Dr Ali-Khan.
The 35 successful candidates were celebrated in the Prize Giving event on Monday 15th July and were presented with their limited edition, 140 years, prefect tie. We trust that these young men will fulfil their role to the best of their ability and be the outstanding role models that prefects are to the rest of the community.
The final choice for prefects was difficult considering the high calibre of applicants. I would like to express my congratulations to all who underwent the application process. To put yourself up for any key role and face risk of non-selection takes courage and determination. All of the applications were strong and well considered. This experience will be of benefit in years to come and I am full of positivity at the number of young men who hold the values that are so essential in our community and in society as a whole.
