Specific Additional Staff:
Thank you to all parents that were able to come to the Year 7 induction day. You can download the booklet that was given out to parents at the bottom of this page: this should tell you all the information you need such as times of the day and term dates for next year.
I know the boys enjoyed meeting their form tutors and the taster lessons. It was also a great opportunity for me to meet pupils and parents. I hope all the boys feel comfortable and confident about the opportunities and challenges next year will bring.
I would like to remind all parents that we expect Year 7 in school on Monday 1st September at 1pm sharp in full uniform and properly equipped to learn.
If any parent has any questions or concerns, please contact the school and I will ring you back as soon as I can. I wish you all a very restful summer and look forward to seeing you in September.
Mr J. Neville
Head of Year
Cheverton Lodge is a purpose-built home in Islington providing 24-hour nursing care to frail older people, to people living with dementia and to younger adults with physical disabilities. Over the last few weeks, several of our Year 7 students have made a commitment to visit the elderly on a weekly basis. Their only remit was to ensure that the person they were with 'won the game'.
Through playing games such as dominoes and simply chatting about their school day, the students have built up an incredible rapport and relationship with the residents. So many look forward to our students visiting. For the students, it allows them to see some of the most vulnerable in our society and experience compassion.
Here is what one student said,
"Cheverton Lodge is an amazing place (even though 90% are really old). I like having fun with the elderly people. So far it's been an amazing experience."
Should you have any queries or need information about anything that is happening throughout the year then please contact us anytime.
Congratulations to the following boys who will represent their forms this term:
The Saturday academy for Year 7 students (by invitation only) takes place every week on site at St Aloysius College and is designed to not only boost students’ key academic skill but also develop their social and interactional skills. Students take part in additional catch-up lessons in English and Maths as well as extracurricular activities such as Art, ICT, Drama, Football and Basketball.
Last year the Saturday academy boys were fortunate to go on trips to the Science Museum, The Natural History Museum as well as Ice Skating and term trips to the cinema.
