7R, 7W and 7P took part in the Future Zone, Islington Poetry competition this term. The competition involved students looking at a series of unusual poems and using these to inspire their own poems.
Over 500 poems were entered from 10 Islington schools. St Aloysius had 4 winners whose poems feature in the new Future Zone Anthology which Mr Walsh presented on Tuesday 17th December.
Our new poet laureate and overall winner, is Kwame Appiah Mensah in 7R, who has had his poem included in the anthology.
Congratulations to all the winners and participants. Miss Doorly commented on how enthusiastic and excited the students have been about the competition.
The winning poem:
Enchantress by Kwame Appiah Mensah, 7R

His voice whispers like ringing chimes,
As I slumber he wakes in grey
My ghost it carries away,
In desire of full possession
He summons the shadows
Calling for my soul,
Taking its toll,
A demon that defies
All my truth & lies,
Their snared souls crave my life
Endless cries, tears and whines,
They are coming for me
I beling to him
He festers inside me
Can never let me be
I quiver and shiver
Like an erupting liver
I am, I am...
